Carnival Marathon 2026
Carnival 2026 Marathon was held on 26 Jan 2026 at Christian Medical College, Vellore, organized with the Dept. of Endocrinology on the theme “Saving Limbs from Amputation in Diabetes.” Over 500 participants joined 2K, 5K and 10K runs, promoting diabetic foot care awareness.
World Diabetes Day Celebration Events
Dept. of Endocrinology, Christian Medical College, Vellore marks World Diabetes Day annually with awareness programmes, screenings, cookery events, quizzes and exhibitions, promoting prevention, early detection and holistic diabetes care in the community.
World Osteoporosis Day Celebration Events
The department commemorates World Osteoporosis Day with essay and poster competitions, awareness stalls, education on bone health and fracture prevention, engaging staff, students and patients each October to promote bone health and lifestyle awareness.
Inauguration of New General OPD Block
On 10 October, 2023 the refurbished OPD Block (120) was inaugurated as the Unitary OPD for Endocrinology and IDTRC at Christian Medical College, Vellore. The ceremony was attended by Prof. I. Rajesh, Dr. Joymammen, Mrs. Annie Jerome and Ms. Sonia Valas.
Inauguration of Endocrinology General Ward (L Ward)
Strengthening inpatient endocrine careOn 9 October, 2023 the refurbished L Ward was inaugurated as the Unitary Ward for Endocrinology at Christian Medical College, Vellore. Chief guest M. S. Seshadri reflected on the department’s 29-year journey. The upgraded ward has 23 beds, including five semi-private beds. with a dedicated ward facility.
Annual Meeting of Type-1 Diabetes Patients
The Dept. of Endocrinology held its annual support group meeting for people with type-1 diabetes and their families to share experiences, improve understanding, dispel myths and promote self-care, peer support and better long-term diabetes management.
Inauguration of the A.M. Cherian Wing
The A.M. Cherian Wing (New OPD Extension) of the Dept. of Endocrinology, Christian Medical College, Vellore was inaugurated on 28 Feb 2014 by A. M. Cherian and dedicated by M. S. Seshadri, honoring Dr. Cherian’s legacy in clinical care, academics and research.
Inauguration of the Molecular Endocrinology Laboratory
The Molecular Laboratory at the Dept. of Endocrinology, Christian Medical College, Vellore was dedicated on 13 Mar 2012 by M. S. Seshadri. Equipped with advanced PCR and genome sequencing systems, it supports genetic research and diagnostics in endocrine disorders.
Inauguration of New Dexa Scan and Bone Densitometry Unit
On 10 Oct 2008, the Bone Densitometry Unit (107) was inaugurated at Christian Medical College, Vellore by Lionel Gnanaraj. The Discovery QDR-DXA enables precise bone density, body composition and fracture risk assessment for osteoporosis diagnosis and care.
Inauguration of Endocrinology office and Clinical Trial Unit
The Office and Clinical Trials Unit of the Department of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism was inaugurated on November 15, 2006. The dedication was led by Rev. Malhia Joshua, with Prof. Ib Bygbjerg unveiling the plaque in the presence of Dr. George M. Chandy, followed by a ceremonial lamp lighting by senior faculty.
