Endocrinology New Office Dedication

                  The Office and clinical trials unit of the Department of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism was inaugurated on November 15 2006. The new office was dedicated by Rev. Malhia Joshua and Professor Ib Bygbjerg from the Department of International Health University of Copenhagen in Denmark unveiled the plaque in the presence of Dr. George M. Chandy. Dr. Abraham Joseph, director, Scheffelin Institute of Reaserach and Training Centre, Karigiri, Dr. George Chandy, former Director, Christian Medical College and Hospital, Vellore, Dr M.S. Seshadri Professor and Head and Dr. Nihal Thomas, Associate Professor, department of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism, CMC, Vellore lighted the lamp and announced the inaugration of the New Office of the department.
                          
                  This was followed by brief talks by Dr.M.S Seshadri and Dr. Nihal Thomas stating about how the department started functioning as a separate superspeciality department in 1995. In the year 2001, the first ever super specialty training course in Endocrinology in South India was introduced by the department. At the the Department of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism is giving service to 400 Endocrinology outpatients every Monday and Thursday and more than 200 patients every Wednesday and Saturday round the year and is also having 12 Clinical trials related to Osteoporosis among postmenopausal women and Type1 and Type2 diabetes. The department staff strength has also increased from 3 to 45. The Department is also involved in imparting training to the mission Hospitals in India for the prevention and Awareness for Diabetes in Collaboration with Scheffelin Institute of Research and Training Centre, Karigiri and Christian Medical Association of India headed by World Diabetes Foundation, Denmark.
                  Prof. Ib Bygbjerg, Chief Guest for the Occasion is looking forward towards the collaboration with the Department of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism, Christian Medical College, Vellore.
                  Dr. George Chandy, Director, Christian Medical College and Hospital was positive about the future of the Department. He also is looking forward towards the growth and development of Department under the Leadership of Dr M. S. Seshadri and Dr. Nihal Thomas.
